The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute is the global nonprofit organization powering the circular economy by setting the standard for products that are designed for health, circularity and fairness, that positively impact people and the planet.
Turning sustainability goals into credible, measurable impact, the Institute verifies products designed for:
Health - Ensuring chemicals in products are non-toxic for people and the planet
Circularity - Ensuring products are designed and managed for more than one lifetime and don’t end up being burned or buried
Fairness - Ensuring that the transition to a sustainable future happens in a just and fair way
The Cradle to Cradle Certified® standard is a holistic framework that assesses materials and products across five sustainability performance categories: Material Health, Product Circularity, Clean Air & Climate Protection, Water & Soil Stewardship, and Social Fairness.
Their third-party verification program and standards are recognized in leading retailers’ sustainable shopping platforms, green building standards, sustainable product government procurement programs, rating schemes and directories. The Institute’s team of experts provides thought leadership and training on safer materials, circular product design, circular product management systems and responsible manufacturing practices, as well as robust systems for third-party verification of sustainability achievements and claims.
