I didn’t expect AI to change my career — but it did. Just like everyone else, I started experimenting with AI for work about a year ago, and I loved it. So much so that I decided to reimagine my career. Fast forward to last Friday: My time in the AirOps AI Marketing Cohort ended, and I officially became a Certified Content Engineer! 🎉 It was the perfect capstone to a year of teaching myself content engineering and building (and breaking and fixing) AI workflows across ChatGPT, Copy.ai, Make, and n8n. I applied because I wanted more structure — a “formal” education in a field so new it didn't even have a name a few months ago. I wanted to push myself: learn a new platform, think differently about challenges, build better workflows, and find a community of professionals going through the same career shift I was. It delivered on all of the above! For my cohort project, I tackled one of the most painfully manual tasks: refreshing dated website content. The old process: get a refreshed keyword from SEO → comb through the blog line by line → look up updated stats and sources → rewrite → re-optimize → repeat. The process I built: a dual-path content optimization workflow — one that runs two refresh approaches side by side: 1️⃣ Manual keyword targeting (traditional SEO) 2️⃣ Research-driven optimization that also accounts for AEO and AI search Then it compares the results, and I can choose one version or combine them into a hybrid piece. The AirOps AI Marketing Cohort was not easy but it was so worth it. Couldn't have asked for a better instructor and team. Big thanks to Andrea McCormick, Caroline Stokes, and Steven Male for running such a thoughtful, well-structured, and challenging cohort. Four months ago I was spending 8+ hours a week on AI Overview analysis. Now it takes minutes. ⚡ AI is changing search faster than any of us expected - AI Overviews everywhere, LLMs as discovery channels, content strategies getting flipped upside down. 😅 So I decided to upskill and joined the AirOps AI Marketing Cohort. AirOps just launched a great online training that I can't recommend highly enough. Over the summer, I had the opportunity to take part in AirOps Cohort 3 and learn not just how to use their system, but how to: - strategically use AI (not just tactically) - combine systems thinking with my marketing know-how - get better, more consistent outputs from different models and more. Now, they don't advertise all of that, but the way Steven Male and Cindy guided us through frameworks and exercises made me think about AI differently. Honestly, I'll probably take it again because I feel like I've only scratched the surface of what's possible with AirOps.
