It is critical that we ensure new generations understand what happened on 9/11 and how the attacks continue to inform our world today through stories of hope, unity, and resilience. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum has free tools and resources throughout the year to support teachers and students. Hear directly from teachers: https://ow.ly/6pVn50WYi4Y

Designing Memory: A Look Back at the 9/11 Memorial Competition Thursday, September 25 | 5–6 p.m. 9/11 Museum Auditorium In 2004, following an international competition with more than 5,000 submissions from 63 countries, the final design for the 9/11 Memorial was selected. Join us for a thoughtful program introduced by Patricia E. Harris, CEO of Bloomberg Philanthropies, with jury members Paula Berry, a 9/11 family member, and historian James E. Young reflecting on the principles that shaped this historic decision. Last week, the 9/11 community came together at the #911Museum for a special New York First Sunday, offering a meaningful opportunity to connect with each other in remembrance. Guests had the opportunity to explore the Museum, view this year's Anniversary Digital Learning Experience, engage children with age-appropriate art activities, and connect with representatives from partner organizations, including the World Trade Center Health Program, Victim Compensation Fund, Crisis Response Canines, Answer the Call, First Responders Children's Foundation, Tuesday's Children, New York City Fire Department Fire Safety Education, and Siren. We are deeply grateful to our partners and all who joined us for a meaningful evening of reflection and community.

Military and veterans — note that the training session for our upcoming public program with The Moth takes place tonight, Tuesday, September 16, from 7 to 8 p.m. ET. The 9/11 Memorial & Museum is honored to partner with The Moth this fall, offering veterans of the War on Terror the opportunity to shape their experiences into compelling five-minute stories to be shared with the public. In a series of free October workshops, participants will work closely with expert Moth instructors, receiving hands-on guidance in uncovering, refining, and presenting their stories with authenticity and impact. The training will culminate on Thursday, November 6, 2025, when four selected veterans will take the stage at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum Auditorium for a special public event showcasing the voices of those who served. 9/11 Memorial & Museum reposted this
Remembering the 24th anniversary commemoration at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum last week, where we had a chance to honor and reflect with people from across the city and the world.
Twenty-four years later, the promise remains: we will #NeverForget911. This morning, we gathered with Mike Bloomberg, Elizabeth L. Hillman, James Young, families, and community members at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum memorial to reflect and remember. As the Tribute in Light illuminates the sky tonight, it honors the strength, unity, and resilience of our city. Second photo: 9/11 Memorial & Museum

In darkness, we shine brightest. Each year in commemoration of 9/11, the double beams of #TributeinLight shine from dusk to dawn, recalling the Twin Towers and honoring those killed. First presented six months after 9/11 and now every year thereafter, Tribute in Light (presented by Con Edison) has become an iconic symbol of remembrance and the unbreakable spirit of New York. For the 24th anniversary this week, 37,500 guests paid tribute at the Memorial once it opened to the public, with the iconic lights coming into view as the sun set. Across New York – and the country – 60 landmarks illuminated in blue, in solidarity.
