We didn't get the best photos, but we had the best time at our inaugural Coffee Hour! ☕💖 Thanks to each of you that came out bright and early to wake up over tea, coffee, and conversation. This was our first early morning networking event of the year, but it won't be our last -- we received overwhelmingly positive feedback and we'll be bringing this event back before the end of the year! Stay tuned~

WRISE Houston's volunteer event at the Houston Botanic Garden was a fantastic experience full of hard work, community, and DIRT! 🌻 We helped out the Gardens by mulching the entrance area with truckloads of dirt to protect the native grasses from weeds and add some curb appeal to the facility. Thank you to all of our attendees that participated, it was a pleasure to meet and connect with all of you. Stay tuned for our next volunteer and wellness events happening later this year! We'll be keeping it cool for the summer with indoor yoga and more ☯️

Our first Lunch and Learn of the year was a huge success! A massive thank you to our host, Wood Mackenzie, to each of our speakers (Jessica Rodriguez, Vanessa Tutos, and Sylvia Leyva Martinez and moderator (Michell Graham), and to our WRISE Houston community for an incredible showing and engaging Q&A! We learned SO much from this panel, but a few key takeaways regarding the IRA and recent Administration impacts included: ✴️ Uncertainty remains in the market, from a permitting perspective, as well as around which groups (suppliers, EPCs, developers, or offtakers) will take on the risk of tariffs and IRA changes. ✴️ While some might expect a reduction or elimination of IRA benefits would reduce offtaker willingness to contract, we've seen a record-breaking number of RFPs. ✴️ Using Q1 2025 as an indicator, many offtakers are not stepping down from their 2030 goals to reach net zero! ✴️ Demand is especially high in the data center and AI world, with Hyperscalers leading the charge to find load and green generation location parity. ✴️ The major tariffs currently impacting solar energy: ▫️ China – 10% + 10% - No impact for solar since the US does not import solar components from China; 6% increase in system cost for storage ▫️Mexico and Canada – 25% - Minimal impact for solar as only a few electrical components for inverter manufacturing are imported from this countries; 15% increase in system cost for storage ▫️Steel and aluminum – 25% - No impact on solar and storage as most steel is sourced domestically
