On behalf of the TCR team, a huge THANK YOU to all of the elected and state officials, speakers, moderators, sponsors and participants who made yesterday's #CaliforniaClimateLeadershipForum at #ClimateWeekNYC so inspiring and impactful. In our current moment, we need a refreshed paradigm for climate action — one in which decarbonization is inextricable from job growth, affordability, and community resilience. The conversations yesterday leaned into that paradigm and explored new solutions and partnerships for everything from investment and policy to clean energy and transportation. The standing-room-only crowd and level of energy throughout the afternoon suggest that the Golden State is just getting started when it comes to #ClimateLeadership. We look forward to continuing these conversations -- and accelerating action -- at #COP30 and beyond. See you next year!

As part of #ClimateWeekNYC, our Founder & CEO, Matthew Eby, joined The Climate Registry's California Climate Leadership Forum for a panel on how smart policy can fast-track climate solutions. Alongside policymakers and sustainability leaders from across California and beyond, Matthew emphasized the importance of connecting policy discussions with the realities of climate risk, so that communities, industries, and governments are better equipped for the future. At First Street, that’s exactly what we’re working toward: making climate risk data accessible and actionable to inform smarter decisions. ➡️ Learn more about what we're building: firststreet.org

Greetings from day two of New York Climate Week. Here’s what I can tell you so far: the conversation has shifted. This week, it’s not whether change will happen, but how fast and how big. At Sightline Climate (CTVC)’s Age of Power panel, we talked about: - How electrification and AI are compressing decades of demand growth into just a few years - Why you can’t buy a new gas turbine in the U.S. for 3–5 years, leaving renewables, geothermal, and grid efficiency as the only options left - How AI is uncovering hidden grid capacity and matching demand to clean supply at unprecedented scale - Why the bottleneck isn’t capital, it’s permitting and policy stability At the The Climate Registry's California Climate Leadership Forum, lessons were clear: - Innovation is undeniable: 62% renewables, 1000% battery growth from >1 GW to 13 GW, and gas use down 44% from 2025 to 2023 - Affordability is the make-or-break challenge, if costs don’t come down, electrification stalls, and emissions stay high - The solutions exist: rooftop solar, AI-driven grid management, 4+1 solar-plus-storage baseload models, and financing tools that put technology in households’ hands at $0 down Globally, clean energy is running up the score. But it's not a smooth transition. Permitting bottlenecks, policy uncertainty, and market volatility are real headwinds. For investors, the real opportunity lies in navigating this dislocation and turning bottlenecks into growth paths. Great to see Sen. Scott Wiener, Pedro Pizarro, Sec. Serena McIlwain, and so many others yesterday. Looking forward to the rest of the week.

🏃♂️💨 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗡𝗬𝗖 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱. The 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗮 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟭 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 showed the State's staying power — with California doubling down to accelerate climate mitigation while also strengthening resilience to the growing impacts of climate change. The focus: ensuring no Californian is left behind. ⛰️ 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲: • 𝗖𝗮𝗽-𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 — a $90B long-distance investment in clean energy, affordable housing, wildfire prevention, safe water, and the aim of lowering utility bills. • 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 — from offshore wind to transmission lines, laying down the core strength for a sustainable economy. • 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 — Commissioner Ricardo Lara (pictured) outlined "the most significant overhaul in 30 years": integrating wildfire resilience into rates, aligning pricing with real risk, and committing insurers to stay in high-risk areas. These are resilience tools for the long haul. California’s message is clear: 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 — 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁. With every stride, we’re proving that strong, steady action can deliver affordability, protection, low-carbon growth and innovation. 👏 Big thanks to The Climate Registry for hosting and for your leadership in bringing these vital conversations to New York.
