October 1 is Clean Air Day and you can take a free ride on Oceanside's EV shuttle. The shuttle runs from the Harbor to the Buena Vista Lagoon, mainly west of I-5. These "gO'side" all-electric vehicles reduce emissions and traffic while promoting local businesses. Ditch the car and catch a clean, green, breezy ride. Download the "Ride Circuit" app to ride. 💨 More quick tips for cleaner air: 🔹 Walk, bike, carpool, or use public transit instead of driving when possible. Combine errands into one trip to reduce total driving. 🔹 Turn off your car engine when waiting or parked. Every 10 minutes spent idling your vehicle releases 1 pound of carbon dioxide into the air. 🔹 Set your thermostat 2-3 degrees higher in summer, lower in winter. 🔹 Unplug electronics when not in use. 🔹 Use LED bulbs and energy-efficient appliances. 🔹 Air-dry clothes instead of using the dryer when possible. 🔹 Buy local products to reduce transportation emissions. 🔹 Plant trees and maintain plants - they naturally filter air. 🔹 Use electric lawn tools instead of gas-powered ones. 🔹 Avoid burning yard waste - compost or recycle instead. 🔹 Properly dispose of paints and chemicals. 🔹 Choose products with less packaging.
