Synergy. Collaboration. Helping each other out. Those aren't just buzzwords at MassDevice, Medical Design & Outsourcing, and DeviceTalks. We live it. The #medtech news we cover on MassDevice that gets attention, the fascinating #meddevice technologies we examine on Medical Design & Outsourcing — they inform my great colleagues Tom Salemi and Kayleen Brown on what people in the industry want to learn about at our DeviceTalks live and virtual events. And then what medtech's top leaders and innovators say at DeviceTalks turns into even more news and insights for MassDevice and MDO. It's a wonderful, virtuous, awesome cycle, and you can be part of the magic next week — Oct. 15–16 — at #DeviceTalksWest #DIIF. By my count, we've had at least a dozen extensive, reported stories on our sites about the people and technologies that we're going to feature at DeviceTalks West. I'll list all of the links in the comments. But instead of getting lost in the library, head to the Santa Clara Convention Center next week to gain knowledge and insights directly from the people doing the work. I hope to see you there! My colleagues Tom Salemi and Kayleen Brown have outdone themselves with the lineup of top #medtech #meddevice leaders and innovators that we have slated for next week's #DeviceTalksWest #DIIF event — Oct. 15–16 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. (I'm honored that our editorial team at MassDevice and Medical Design & Outsourcing could provide an assist.) DeviceTalks West will feature a record number of keynote panels and interviews, including an open keynote interview with the leader of Johnson & Johnson MedTech, which is on track to surpass Medtronic as the largest medical device company on the world next year. We'll have discussions about product design, connected tools, company buildings and many other critical components of the medical device industry. (I'll have a link in the comments to a MassDevice story with more details.) I hope to see you there! Register here: https://lnkd.in/ev43Er3

#Telesurgery through #roboticsurgery systems could open up whole new efficiencies for #healthcare systems around the world. Think access to surgical expertise in rural and other remote areas — or even in the suburbs. (In Minneapolis-St. Paul, where I live, it's a hub and spoke model for the health systems. Think about being able to get a complicated #surgery near where you live, instead of going into the heart of the city.) To get there, though, we're going to need standards. A group of top companies and organizations took the first steps earlier this year, agreeing on technical guidelines for remote robotic surgery. (Medical Design & Outsourcing link in the comments.) I'm excited that my great colleague Tom Salemi and I will have some of the co-authors of those guidelines on a panel at #DeviceTalksWest #DIIF next week — Oct. 15–16 at the Santa Clara Convention Center. The panel is an impressive group: – Shane Farritor, Co-founder, CTO at Virtual Incision – Brian Miller, Chief Digital Officer at Intuitive – Yulun Wang, Co-founder, Chairman at SOVATO – Mike Kijewski, CEO at Medcrypt – Mostafa Toloui, MedTech Product Management Lead at NVIDIA It's still not too late to register for DeviceTalks West. Why did Darla Hutton, VP of Global Cardiac Surgery at Intuitive and I choose "The Power of Global Representation" as our theme for the #DeviceTalksWest Women in MedTech Breakfast? Because when we talk about advancing #MedTech, we can't separate innovation from the people who drive it - and the perspectives that shape it. So we NEED diversity of perspective to ensure that we are innovating for all populations, globally. If you haven't already, make sure to register for DeviceTalks West, Innovation & Industry Forums, Oct. 15-16th. And join us at 8am for the #WomeninMedTech Breakfast on Oct. 16th. Thank you for your continued support, Aptyx, and thank you to our DeviceTalkers for making it known that these conversations are critical.

After selling two companies to Boston Scientific for more than $4 billion, Raymond W. Cohen’s getting a lot people asking for help — and he's happy to give back. Ahead of his interview with Tom Salemi at #DeviceTalksWest about how to build acquirable medical device companies, I asked Cohen for advice from his career and he flagged some common medtech mistakes and bad advice going around. "A lot of people are going to give you advice," he says. "You’ve got to figure out who’s full of it and whose advice is worth taking." I've got more at the Medical Design & Outsourcing article in the comments below, and hope you'll join us next week in Santa Clara. Learn more and save your spot now at west.devicetalks.com!

In today's interconnected healthcare landscape, cybersecurity is not just a technical issue; it's a shared responsibility that requires collaboration across all stakeholders. As highlighted in our recent webinar Phil Englert noted, "Cybersecurity is a failure mode," emphasizing that when systems fail, patient safety and data integrity are at risk. Shane Fry pointed out, with 46% of organizations declining purchases due to cybersecurity concerns, it's clear that the stakes are high. Manufacturers and healthcare providers must work together to establish robust cybersecurity standards and practices. For more, catch up on our latest Medical Design & Outsourcing webinar where our experts discussed the evolving landscape of cybersecurity in the medical device industry. https://lnkd.in/g6-v8K3T RunSafe Security Inc.
