Some great takeaways from yesterday's Vogue Business #FashionFutures event:
1. There is SO much happening in Fashion Tech, beyond the very visible entertainment lens -- it was amazing to see so many #startups presenting innovative solutions for #retail and e-commerce customer experience (ZERO10, DRESSX, Fierce Entertainment, Inc.), supply chain transparency (Blue Bite), product, materials and production innovation (HILOS, Säntis Textiles) and fit and sizing (Laws of Motion). EXCITING.
2. The need and hope for the conversation to move from #fashiontech and 3D/digital fashion as a separate, siloed discussion to:
(1) a more comprehensive one that merges technology as an inherent and natural part of the larger fashion industry conversation, inclusive of creative/design/experience/etc. (BODS CEO Christine Marzano)
and (2) from a marketing conversation to a commercial one, and to "gaming as wholesale" (adidas /// studio Global VP and General Manager Erika W.)
3. There is a major disconnect between the reality versus the narrative around the new consumer and the importance they place (values-wise AND wallet-wise) on #sustainability. During a session, Rent The Runway CEO Jennifer Hyman called out the reality of consumer behavior today: that as fast, disposable fashion is becoming even faster, more disposable, and cheaper (the $6 Shein dress) consumer consumption and waste is still going up, not down.
