Today's social network are not open networks — they are social app or walled gardens.

Decent Network is a decentralized, permissionless social infrastructure — similar in spirit to Bitcoin and Ethereum, but focused on communication and identity rather than finance.

Unlike blockchains that maintain distributed ledgers, Decent Network does not aim to be another financial layer. Instead, it exists parallel to Bitcoin and Ethereum as one of the missing pieces of public infrastructure for decentralized applications.

Since Bitcoin's invention, many projects have tried to build decentralized infrastructure beyond money — such as:
