An experiment on exploring benefits of batch encoding Haproxy log lines as protocol buffer messages for:

• Denser representation
• Easier parsing

The lessons learnt so far was that the space savings gains weren't that great, and if we did store protos in HDFS any streaming jobs would have to implement a new framing mechanism to handle these binary objects.

The Haproxy log format is quite dense and easy to parse as it stands now.
