Weblate is a commercial platform too, that doesn't mean it is closed source as-a-service-only. |

+1 for having a web based tool which allows translators to track if source strings are added, change or disappear. I've been playing with PoC on Weblate. I asked them for a "libre" licence, let's see if they approve it. The nice thing I found is that it is quite configurable. One possible flow would be:
The pull requests contain references to the original contributor of the translation, which is nice. The new Admin UI message bundles can be translated right away. TODOs I see for the message properties:

There are now two PRs which handle the TODOs mentioned above: |

Having Keycloak being accepted as an OpenSource project at Weblate was great, and the code blockers resolved. Even if we could workaround Therefore I'm opening up this for adoption for someone else to drive it. I'm happy to share what I have. If no-one would pick it up for the next 30 days, I'll probably remove the current hosting of Keycloak at Weblate as it confuses people who want to translate. |

I'd like to contribute some German translation strings for device OAuth pages. Is Weblate ready or should the standard GitHub MRs be used? |

I read instructions, but it is not clear what to do to add italian, because a lot of messages_it.properties files are already present in the repository, but not in Weblate. |

If there's another French volunteer here, we can be two to have Weblate :) |

Hi! I am the author of the last big Catalan translation updates, and would like to be listed as the maintainer in weblate. I have a private instance of weblate which we have used to work on the keycloak translation so it'd be great to move to the official one for more visibility and support. Many thanks for considering. |

How do you review translations ? When I check a translation by going to "Strings waiting for review" I have Save and Continue (which I use as a "ok, reviewed this"), Save and Stay I dont use, Suggest which I did use but when I get back to the Translate pane, suggestions remain at 0. I did a full pass on the 194 strings awaiting review, did a few suggestions (a few translations kept adjectives or some words in the English order, which is reversed in French in the sentence or plural where is none or the reverse, etc.) but I can't get that "Review" conter to move. |

A general question, is there a way to see directly in Weblate where the word is used? because some translations can differ on the context. Would be nice to have something like a print screen where the translated word is used. |

There is now a blog post about Weblate & upcoming online Meetup "Keycloak Hour of Code"! Please join one of the sessions to learn more and ask questions online (there are two events to cover more timezones). While this is about to be streamed and recorded, it would be great to have a panel of translators on the call. Do you want to join a the video call for a panel discussion? Please reach out to me here or via the email address in my GitHub profile. cc: @robson90 / @jonkoops / @y-tabata / @wadahiro / @jmallach / @Ecron / @herver1971 / @anthieni / @mathmul / @SaraPristovnik / @GioviQ / @EdoardoTona / @edwint88 / @liviuroman / @k-tamura |

Why some languages aren't shown on the Weblate? There is no Hungarian but in the sources it exists: Could you please check and maybe press Rescan or something like that? |

Hi @ahus1 , It would be an honor for me and my co-worker @charliedcc if we could maintain the Simplified Chinese (zh_Hans) translation. Regarding our translation strategy: is it preferred to transcode from Traditional to Simplified Chinese to keep the translations aligned (similar to Wikipedia's approach)? Or, should we translate directly from English to achieve a more native Simplified Chinese tone? |

To all language maintainers and those who want to help with Weblate translations: There is now a daily updated overview on the Keycloak webpage, sourced from the Weblate API with percentages: https://www.keycloak.org/translations As a user or contributor to a translation, you can see the status. As a language maintainer, you can directly jump to the reviews of your language. Let me know if you think this is helpful, or if anything else is needed on this page. Maybe join the discussion on #38962 to eventually add non-Weblate translations as well. |

UPDATE by @ahus1: We decided to use Weblate. See https://github.com/keycloak/keycloak/blob/main/docs/translation.md for the current process on how to contribute translations using a localization platform.
If you want to add a new language to Weblate, we need two volunteers who review the translations and reply to community feedback. Add a comment below or reply to an existing comment to connect with others.
Description
I'm seeing many localization files in this project, it may be more convenient for the translators to work with a translation management tool.
There are several open source options such as Weblate and TranslateWiki.
In addition there are some commercial options that offer free hosting for open source projects such as Crowdin and Transifex.
I'm quite experienced with all these platform and willing to assist with the provisioning if needed.
Discussion
No response
Motivation
To improve localization effort and allow busy translators to hop in.
Details
I personally prefer Weblate for localization since it's open source and has tighter git integration.
TranslateWiki is very straight forward and lacks many important functions including TM and advanced context features.
Crowdin is very convenient yet loaded with analytics.
Transifex is pretty good but more complicated to use in terms of context and screenshots.
