Hello 👋

I'm Ben, a technologist with a strong focus on security and developer experience. I've been running conferences and meetups for over 20 years and am recognized as an MVP for my contributions to the tech community. I'm passionate about empowering developers to build safer applications through better tooling, security, and coding practices.

My journey started early. I got my first computer when I was 8, and wrote my first security-related code at 11 years old to prevent my parents from accidentally breaking our family PC. With over two decades of experience in community engagement, software engineering, security, and architecture, I've had the opportunity to architect Virgin Australia's mobile apps, conduct pre-acquisition security audits for major VC firms, speak at technology conferences around the world, and bring Australia's only technology-conference-meets-music-festival to reality.

What I Do

  • Security & Development: I specialize in making software security and best practices accessible and practical for developers
  • Community Building: I run technology conferences and workshops to share knowledge and connect with fellow technologists
  • Writing & Consulting: I'm a published author and have consulted for companies and investors across numerous industries
  • Developer Relations: I bridge the gap between complex security concepts and practical implementation

Projects

Because I needed fine-grained control over my deployment notifications, I launched Deplotify in August 2025.

And because context drift and LLM confusion drive me crazy, I'm currently building BraidFlow — an AI-backed goal-oriented discussion platform.
