… and fix warnings generated by them. Required bumping the MSRV to 1.80 which added size_of to the prelude, but we are not testing the MSRV anyways.

I started by extracting out a few small fixes from my snafu PR, and new things just started popping up 😅
I have another PR prepped as a follow-up, the diff is a bit bigger though so I'll bring it up in Matrix first.
