An idiomatic C++ client library for the Database Migration API, a service to Manage Cloud Database Migration Service resources on Google Cloud Platform.
While this library is GA, please note Google Cloud C++ client libraries do not follow Semantic Versioning.
Quickstart
The following shows the code that you'll run in the google/cloud/datamigration/quickstart/ directory, which should give you a taste of the Database Migration API C++ client library API.
The library automatically retries requests that fail with transient errors, and uses exponential backoff to backoff between retries. Application developers can override the default policies.

Library
=========================================

An idiomatic C++ client library for the [Database Migration API](https://cloud.google.com/database-migration), a service to Manage Cloud Database Migration Service resources on Google Cloud Platform.

While this library is **GA** , please note Google Cloud C++ client libraries do **not** follow [Semantic Versioning](https://semver.org/).

### Quickstart

The following shows the code that you'll run in the `google/cloud/datamigration/quickstart/` directory, which should give you a taste of the Database Migration API C++ client library API.

#include "google/cloud/datamigration/v1/data_migration_client.h"
#include <iostream>

int main(int argc, char* argv[]) try {
if (argc != 3) {
std::cerr << "Usage: " << argv[0] << " project-id location-id
";
return 1;
}

namespace datamigration = ::google::cloud::datamigration_v1;
auto client = datamigration::DataMigrationServiceClient(
datamigration::MakeDataMigrationServiceConnection());

auto const parent =
std::string{"projects/"} + argv[1] + "/locations/" + argv[2];
for (auto r : client.ListMigrationJobs(parent)) {
if (!r) throw std::move(r).status();
std::cout << r->DebugString() << "
";
}

return 0;
} catch (google::cloud::Status const& status) {
std::cerr << "google::cloud::Status thrown: " << status << "
";
return 1;
}

### Main classes

The main class in this library is [`datamigration_v1::DataMigrationServiceClient`](/cpp/docs/reference/datamigration/2.12.0/classgoogle_1_1cloud_1_1datamigration__v1_1_1DataMigrationServiceClient). All RPCs are exposed as member functions of this class. Other classes provide helpers, configuration parameters, and infrastructure to mock [`datamigration_v1::DataMigrationServiceClient`](/cpp/docs/reference/datamigration/2.12.0/classgoogle_1_1cloud_1_1datamigration__v1_1_1DataMigrationServiceClient) when testing your application.

### Retry, Backoff, and Idempotency Policies.

The library automatically retries requests that fail with transient errors, and uses [exponential backoff](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exponential_backoff) to backoff between retries. Application developers can override the default policies.

### More Information

- [Error Handling](https://cloud.google.com/cpp/docs/reference/common/latest/common-error-handling.html) - describes how the library reports errors.
- [How to Override the Default Endpoint](/cpp/docs/reference/datamigration/2.12.0/datamigration-override-endpoint) - describes how to override the default endpoint.
- [How to Override the Authentication Credentials](/cpp/docs/reference/datamigration/2.12.0/datamigration-override-authentication) - describes how to change the authentication credentials used by the library.
- [Environment Variables](/cpp/docs/reference/datamigration/2.12.0/datamigration-env) - describes environment variables that can configure the behavior of the library."]]
