As we do every year, it is with a heavy heart that we pause to honor the lives lost and the families forever changed September 11, 2001. However, we are always grateful for the courage of first responders and the unity of our Nation in the face of unthinkable tragedy. #NeverForget

On the move in the ATL! The Navy SEALs have a motto: “the only easy day was yesterday.” To them, it’s more than a motto - it is a way of life. At the United States Secret Service, we safeguard our nation’s leaders and financial infrastructure with unwavering excellence, integrity, and accountability. We too are looking for people who want the challenge and to serve. Who want to be the best. Our highly skilled workforce is comprised of Special Agents, Uniformed Division officers, Technical Law Enforcement personnel, and civil service professionals covering multiple disciplines. We are an elite law enforcement agency with a specific mission and we are looking for you! To become Special Agents or Uniformed Division officers you will encounter multiple interviews and tests on your road to join us. One challenge on that journey tests your strength and agility - the Applicant Physical Abilities Test or APAT. APATs assess an individual’s basic mental and physical abilities as part of the application process for becoming either Special Agents or officers of the Uniformed Division of the United States Secret Service. Special Agents from the Atlanta Field Office were right beside the candidates, administering the pre-employment test today. APATs consist of four components: Sit-ups, push-ups, a 1 ½ mile run, and an agility run. Once they pass the APAT, candidates continue on the path towards their goal of joining the Secret Service. How about you? Are you ready for the challenge? If you are interested in learning how you can pursue your dream of joining our highly skilled team, pay a visit to our website at the link below for more information. #SecretService #CareerOpportunities #JoinUs

On the move in the ATL! U.S. Secret Service personnel, joined by federal, state and local law enforcement partners, fanned out across Georgia to remove illegal devices and distribute educational materials about Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) fraud and skimming. These efforts helped businesses better identify the warning signs of illegal skimming devices in their point-of-sale terminals, gas pumps and ATMs. Two operations, one covering metro-Atlanta and Columbus, and the other covering metro-Savannah and the Coastal Empire, were part of a nationwide effort to target EBT fraud and skimming. “These thieves steal significant dollars and affect real people who cannot afford to lose those funds. We will continue our efforts to educate business owners and the public, and maintain our vigilance, protecting the financial infrastructure of the United States,” said Robert Donovan, Deputy Special Agent in Charge, Atlanta Field Office. Secret Service agents and law enforcement partners visited over 650 businesses state-wide performing approximately 4,500 inspections on ATMs, gas pumps, and merchant point-of-sale terminals checking for illegal skimming devices. During the operations a total of 50 skimming devices were recovered, which prevented an estimated potential loss of $52 million.

On the move in the ATL! The U.S. Secret Service (USSS) National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) and Atlanta Field Office hosted a targeted school violence prevention conference highlighting the importance of proactively intervening with students when they are exhibiting threatening or other concerning behaviors. NTAC shared key findings from their research and operational guidance on developing behavioral threat assessment programs for educators and school safety personnel. Other presenters discussed best practices for facilitating information sharing between public safety partners, encouraging bystander reporting, forming multi-disciplinary school-based teams, and developing strategies to assist when students are struggling. The conference also offered an opportunity for attendees to strengthen relationships with partners from across the state and share lessons learned. #SecretService #NTAC #NDGANews
