About us

The Department of Engineering manages an average portfolio of 70 active projects with an annual capital budget of approximately $30 million across to expand, repair and improve the infrastructure for the City of Saint Charles, MO. The Department of Engineering's responsibilities include: Forecasting, planning, and managing transportation, stormwater, water, and sanitary capital infrastructure projects in the City Establishing and enforcing City infrastructure codes, standards, and specifications Working with private developers to ensure subdivisions and developments are well-planned and meet City Requirements Reviewing plans, issuing permits, and performing inspections for the construction of public infrastructure and utilities, or work affecting these, as part of private activities Overseeing the planning and use of public right-of-ways and easements Providing engineering support to the operational divisions of Public Works and other Departments The Department of Engineering is divided into two groups based upon the project life-cycle. These groups are: The Design Group, which oversees the planning, design, and permitting phase of public or private projects and activities The Construction Group, which inspects and oversees the implementation and construction of public or private projects and activities
