Simple but great tip for not forgetting crap that'll bite you in the butt. Use checklists (credit to Greg McKeown). Bonus tip in Google Docs - quickly uncheck your long checklist boxes by selecting them all & pressing Ctrl + Shift + 9. Keep all tasks selected then press Ctrl + Shift + 9 again. No more need to uncheck the boxes one by one.
