POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

As the Quality Manager you will manage the activities of employees engaged in Quality and work with the welding processes and employees in the shop. You will monitor workflow and address quality issues when they arise. You are responsible for setting priorities based on planning’s input and ensuring these priorities are met. You will conduct daily/weekly meetings with staff to maintain a consistent level of communication between their team, Leadership, and the other functional teams in the facility. You will maintain and report out appropriate metrics for the department and inspect product to drawing, customer, and contract requirements. You will also ensure compliance to the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) standard and maintaining certification, and the safety of workers in the organization by setting safety policies for the department. 


Principal Activities:

You will:

• Maintains compliance with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard

• Manage employees’ daily activities to ensure production efficiencies

• Ensure the inspection team meets the production schedule

• Work with Planning and Manufacturing to set priorities

• Work with and assist in the management of welding procedures and processes for the shop

• Provide daily / weekly metrics for throughput, first pass yield, etc

• Manage employees’ hours and schedule overtime as required

• Inspect product to ensure contract and drawing requirements are met

• Notify the appropriate support personnel when there are questions on product quality, drawing

requirements, etc

• Support Government and Customer source inspection

• Hold daily / weekly team meetings

• Train employees in fundamentals of production inspection as well as cross train the staff in all facets of

the inspection process

• Assign tasks and projects to employees

• Counsel employees and provide verbal or written disciplinary actions as required

• Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a safe and orderly condition

• Set goals and conduct annual performance reviews

• Meet attendance and punctuality requirements for the position

• Maintain ASME Code Program with current U, U2 and Repair Stamps

• Perform other duties as assigned


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Previous or Current Level II in PT,MT,UT,RT & VT

• Must have experience in developing, qualifying and writing Welding Procedures in accordance with

ASME IX

• Results oriented with sound judgment

• Excellent demonstrated verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and strategic skills

• Superior interpersonal skills

• Ability to perform multi-faceted projects in rapidly changing environment

• Resourceful and well organized


Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Welding Engineering, or

equivalent experience

• At least 8 years’ relevant experience in hands on manufacturing or 12+ years' experience in a machine

shop environment in a Quality role or a combination of both.

• Minimum of 5 years in a Supervisory role preferred.

• Experience working with ASME Section V, VIII, and IX is essential

• Direct hands on experience working in a quality / inspection function

• Experience utilizing Lean Six Sigma a plus
