APGA is the trade association representing more than 730 communities across the U.S. that own and operate natural gas utilities. These include not-for-profit gas distribution systems owned by municipalities and other local government entities, all accountable to the citizens they serve.


About the Job

APGA is seeking an ambitious professional with an interest in engaging with federal regulatory agencies that impact the natural gas utility industry – including the Department of Energy, Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Department of Labor, and Army Corps of Engineers.  Candidates may also have an interest in consensus standards that impact the supply and delivery of natural gas to homes and businesses.

The Manager of Regulatory Affairs will report to and work closely with the Executive Vice President & VP of Advocacy and Operations on representing APGA’s members on regulatory matters - including the development of written comments, participating in agency stakeholder meetings, and providing member resources on relevant regulatory issues.


Position Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Facilitation of advocacy committees that support members’ engagement on relevant federal regulatory and other policy issues.
  • Assist in organizing industry conferences, roundtables, and webinars by developing agendas, confirming speakers, and working through event logistics.
  • Facilitate industry roundtables by leading discussions with APGA members.
  • Represent APGA at federal agency public stakeholder meetings and at industry conferences, workshops, meetings, and other venues.
  • Draft analyses and summaries of regulatory issues and policy developments.


Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a related field (such as: federal or state regulatory agency, natural gas or energy industry compliance or advocacy)
  • Excellent communications skills, both oral and written; ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Meeting facilitation and consensus building.
  • Some work travel required.
  • Bachelors degree preferred. Highschool degree or GED required.
  • Must also be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.


Work Environment

This role is based in Washington, D.C. Washington, D.C.-based staff report to the office 2 days a week: Mondays and another day determined by the employee. The employee’s supervisor may determine additional work from home flexibility based upon meeting and conference schedules.


Pay & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually. Typically, new hires are brought into the organization at a salary range between the minimum and midpoint, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted salary for the role.
