Our client, a forward-thinking MEP engineering consultancy with a stronghold in the DMV region, is looking for a Mechanical Department Leader to take the helm at an exciting stage of growth.

This isn’t just another Senior level role... It’s a chance to shape technical vision, mentor and elevate a talented team, and directly impact some of the region’s most meaningful projects—from sustainable schools, civic spaces and sports arenas to next-generation commercial environments.


Our client is open to drawing in the sand on leveling title, but we are seeking an Engineer at a Director/VP/Associate Principal/Senior Associate (are we missing any?!) leader. No matter what your current firm uses for the title, we're looking for someone who embodies leadership as outlined below and bring enough built work in their experience portfolio to guide a team delivering some of the coolest, most progressive projects in the MidAtlantic.


What You’ll Do:

  • Set Direction: Guide the firm’s technical standards, processes, and innovation in mechanical design.
  • Lead & Mentor: Build trust, invest in people, and elevate future leaders within the team.
  • Ensure Excellence: Drive quality and consistency across complex projects, serving as the technical lead and QA/QC stamp of approval.
  • Partner & Deliver: Work closely with clients and integrated A/E teams to bring bold, sustainable solutions to life.

  • A seat at the table during an exciting growth period—your leadership will be legacy-building.


What You Bring:

  • 10+ years leading mechanical engineering design and teams across diverse project types.
  • PE license and deep technical expertise in MEP systems.
  • Fluency and foundational understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, and related tools - you won't be doing production work but should be willing to roll your sleeves up when needed and be the Senior crit for team deliverables
  • A leadership style rooted in mentorship, innovation, and collaboration.
