Company Description

The Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH) coordinates organizations that serve the homeless on Long Island. LICH facilitates the region's funding application to the Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) for housing and services for the homeless. LICH also coordinates the Continuum of Care group, which includes non-profit organizations, government representatives, and community members. LICH advocates on behalf of the homeless through community outreach, media outlets, and legislative advocacy, and works directly with individuals to help them obtain permanent housing.


Role Description

This is an internship role with the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, located on-site in Long Island, NY. The intern will assist with planning and coordinating a homeless conference, homeless street outreach event, education and awareness campaigns, and policy and advocacy.


Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Seeking to gain experience in social services or non-profit environments
  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a relevant degree program (e.g., Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, etc.)
