About us

YouTube is a team-oriented, creative workplace where every single employee has a voice in the choices we make and the features we implement. We work together in small teams to design, develop, and roll out key features and products in very short time frames. Which means something you write today could be seen by millions of viewers tomorrow. And even though we’re a part of Google and enjoy all of the corporate perks, it still feels like you’re working at a startup. YouTube is headquartered in San Bruno, California, 12 miles south of San Francisco. We also have many job openings in Mountain View, and across the globe

This past Friday, the Los Angeles Chargers played the Kansas City Chiefs in São Paulo, Brazil…and for the first time, the rest of the world watched (for free) on YouTube. Our first National Football League (NFL) broadcast set a record for the most concurrent viewers of a livestream on YouTube. A key part of making Friday's game such a unique experience was investing in product innovation. Four creators (iShowSpeed, Tom Grossi, Robegrill and Bryan SKabeche) hosted their own Watch With streams, and CazéTV provided their own commentary live from Corinthians Arena for viewers in Brazil. Thanks to our Infrastructure team’s careful planning, we were able to reliably deliver the game with beautiful picture quality at 1080p resolution. When viewers tuned in, they got a mix of classic football and creators that is uniquely YouTube: Kurt Warner and Rich Eisen broke down each play, Stacey Dales and Deestroying reported live, Kay Adams and Cam Newton hosted our pregame and postgame shows and Karol G performed at the halftime show. For years, we’ve been investing in making YouTube a place where viewers can watch everything in one place: from live games and highlights to creator commentary. We made a top-notch viewer experience, got the right partnerships in place, and supported our community of incredible creators, whose content keeps viewers tuning in. Thank you to the NFL and to our YouTube teams for making this game possible. Together, we’re not just streaming content; we're innovating to superserve sports fans, bringing communities together and shaping the future of how the world experiences sports. The game has truly changed.

What is "creative maximalism"? The YouTube Culture and Trends team researched hundreds of the past year’s trends from the world’s top markets and ran surveys to understand this new type of content, defined by four key elements: ⏩ Audio/Visual Complexity: Densely layered information and faster-paced editing. 🤝 Narrative Co-creation: Public-generated, massive, decentralized entertainment properties with immense casts of characters and storylines. 😆 Internet-Referential: Humor and ideas built on layers of online inside jokes. 🌐 Globally Influenced: A seamless blend of cultural references from around the world For this generation, participating in the discourse of their peers and communities means creating and engaging with video, and their new language is quickly shaping entertainment. Excited to announce YouTube's expanded partnership with Sesame Street, which has enriched childhoods for generations. Starting in January 2026, YouTube will become home to the largest digital library of Sesame Street content, bringing hundreds of full episodes from previous seasons to families globally, alongside new YouTube-specific content. This partnership is a natural fit, as over half of the watch time on Sesame Street's official YouTube channels already happens on connected TV screens. What's more, Sesame Workshop will lead a series of workshops with YouTube creators. They’ll share 50+ years of research-driven, curriculum-backed children’s media expertise to help foster the creation of even more entertaining and educational content on YouTube. More and more, when families turn on the TV, they’re turning on YouTube, which is why we’re so focused on making YouTube the best place for learning and entertainment. Thank you to Sesame Street for this incredible opportunity to expand access to your beloved content! Read more in The Hollywood Reporter:  https://lnkd.in/gJYgpm6V

Congratulations to Jimmy Donaldson, Mark Rober and the thousands of YouTube creators around the world who rallied together for the #TeamWater campaign. Together with their fans and in partnership with WaterAid, they did the impossible: raising over $40M in just 31 days to bring clean water to 2M+ people for decades. Last week, I hosted Mark at YouTube HQ to talk about the campaign and his journey from NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Apple engineer to full-time creator. His enthusiasm was infectious, whether he was explaining how to inspire the next generation of problem solvers or explaining the hydraulics of a spider’s legs. The #TeamWater campaign showcases a powerful new model for philanthropy, driven by creators rallying their dedicated communities. Their message reached and resonated with young audiences worldwide, inspiring a new wave of global citizenship. It's truly inspiring to see YouTube enable this kind of large-scale philanthropy. Thank you to every single creator and donor who made #TeamWater such a global success.
