Voting is the foundation of American democracy. Every eligible voter should have an accessible, secure, and reliable way to cast their ballot free from interference, judgement, and any barriers keeping them from their civic duty. Mail-in voting, also known as absentee voting, is just that – accessible, secure, and reliable. It has been the go-to method for Washington State voters since the early 2000s. Yet, despite lack of evidence, mail-in voting faces scrutiny from our current political administration. https://lnkd.in/gS9yqizA

100% BIPOC-led org working to make sure all voices in Pacific County are heard.
About us
Pacific County Voices Uniting is a 100% BIPOC-led organization located along the edges of Willapa Bay in Southwest Washington that aims to shift, balance, and develop a culture of healthy civic engagement. In a county with large disparities, we are uniting cross-cultural and multi-generational demographics to participate in collaborative social movements that increase civic engagement through education, create more reflective representation and build political power. By lifting and supporting BIPOC leadership, we strive to promote systems and policies that create equitable access to resources for those often forgotten or silenced in our communities. More specifically, we seek racial, political, social, and economic justice for those most marginalized in our communities: Black, Indigenous, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander peoples of color, the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and people living with both seen and unseen disabilities.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about values. It’s about whether we still believe in the idea that we are responsible for one another, that the strength of a society is measured not by how it treats the powerful, but by how it protects the vulnerable. https://lnkd.in/gbkrBkkv

As fireworks light up the sky and flags wave proudly, July 4th is often seen as a day of celebration in the United States- a symbol of freedom, independence, and national pride. But for many, especially within BIPOC communities and immigrant populations, the holiday can also bring up feelings of dissonance, grief, and reflection. It is a bittersweet day, one that honors powerful ideals while reminding us how far we still are from fully realizing them. https://lnkd.in/gvWwa_Q8

Huge thanks to the Inatai Foundation Board for visiting PCVU (Pacific County Voices Uniting)! We had a great time sharing how we operate, discussing our latest programs, and connecting about the needs of our community. We truly appreciate them taking the time to visit us, and we are honored to be among the many grantees they support across the state. "It means so much to have partners who take the time to listen and truly understand our community. Inatai’s support helps turn our vision into action," - Bethany Barnard, Executive Director, PCVU We are so grateful for their partnership; their funding makes a real difference! #CommunityPartnership #SupportingCommunities #MakingADifference

As NAACP Vancouver Branch 1139-B celebrates 80 years of community power this year, they've curated this exhibit to shed light on the ways they've made history right here in the Pacific Northwest. This special exhibit is a must if you're in Southwest Washington! https://lnkd.in/gt2C9JhF

Today, tomorrow, and every day after that. Black lives matter. Systemic racism can be defined as policies and practices that exist throughout a whole society that leads to a continued unfair advantage to some people and unfair or harmful treatment of others based on race. Systemic racism takes many forms, including: 👉 When one group of people and their values, ways of doing things are classified as “normal” and other groups of people are “abnormal”. 👉 The political power to withhold basic rights from people of colour and use the full power of the state to enforce segregation and inequality, in practice. 👉 The social power to deny people of colour full inclusion 👉 The economic power that privileges white people in terms of job placement, advancement, wealth, and property accumulation.

April is National Card and Letter Writing Month, designated by the United States Postal Service as “an annual celebration of handwritten correspondence.” To mark the occasion, we’re sharing a guide on how to write to someone who is incarcerated: https://lnkd.in/ePbHhZ2F

At Pacific County Voices Uniting (PCVU), we want to take a moment to share our deep appreciation for the incredible efforts of our canvassers, volunteers, and supporters who gave their time, energy, and hearts to the campaign for Proposition No. 1. While the bond measure did not pass, we remain proud and deeply encouraged by what this campaign represented: a collective effort to advocate for something we all deserve- accessible, quality healthcare in our own community. https://lnkd.in/gmDK5Qik
