𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. https://lnkd.in/dPBdU4hk From deep-dive tutorials and outage analytics to environmental rule impacts and low-carbon strategies, five user groups—Combined Cycle Users Group (#CCUG), Steam Turbine Users Group (#STUG), Generator Users Group (#GUG), and Power Plant Controls Users Group (#PPCUG), and the Low Carbon Peer Group (#LCPG)—came together to share field-tested solutions, emerging technologies, and practical O&M wisdom. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗱:  • GTs drove 55% of unplanned outages across 800k hours of downtime (2021–2023)  • Electrical systems contributed 40% of downtime, making them the top subcategory concern  • HRSGs behind upgraded GTs are seeing more damage post-upgrade  • Roundtables addressed immediate vs. long-term recovery strategies, including steam leaks, bypass modes, and adjusted ops under stress  • FBI input on terrorism risk, and a dive into EPA Rule 111’s shifting implications  • A welcome push for new attendees with targeted training and tutorials  • Bill Lovejoy (NAES) received the Individual Achievement Award and reminded all attendees why lifelong learning remains essential in our fast-evolving industry. Known affectionately as “The Clyde,” Maughan helped shape the foundation of the Generator Users Group (#GUG), led over 250 generator repair projects, and authored the essential handbook “Maintenance of Turbine-Driven Generators.” His work has informed generations of engineers and continues to be a guiding light for the industry. #GasTurbineCoach Tom Freeman put it best: “When Clyde entered the room at the first GUG meeting, the silence and respect were immediate. He’s earned every bit of that admiration through decades of engineering excellence.” Clyde’s contributions span GE, IEEE, EPRI, and his own consultancy—culminating in an unmatched body of technical knowledge and mentorship.
