We’re excited to introduce NextNap, a new feature designed to bring clarity (and calm) to nap time. Parents shouldn’t have to plead with a Magic 8 Ball for hints as to when baby will rest🎱 The NextNap feature auto-generates daily nap time predictions, tailored to your baby. Guesswork be gone! With NextNap you can plan your day with more confidence (and a little extra “you time”). Sleep science feels a lot like magic✨

Natalie Barnett, PhD, has returned from World Sleep 2025 in Singapore feeling inspired by the incredible research being shared from around the world. One of the highlights was a symposium featuring several valued Nanit Lab collaborators:  “The role of autovideosomnography in research: How AI and big data are transforming pediatric sleep and development research.” Huge thanks to: Sung Kyoung Shin Oliviero Bruni Maria Breda Michal Kahn Ekjot Saini Zepeng Gou Soo Yeon (Aly) Suh Judith Owens Dr. Barnett was also proud to see important work led by Shambhavi T. from Nanit Lab on toddler sleep patterns - examining associations between bedtime consistency, parental involvement, and sleep presented by Dr. Monica Ordway From Nanit Lab, additional posters were shared on: - Differences in parent-reported sleep patterns in toddlers sleeping in cribs versus beds - Sleep phenotypes in infancy and their continuity into toddlerhood It was an honor for Dr. Barnett to reconnect with the global sleep research community and to see how AI and large-scale data are shaping the future of pediatric sleep science. #WorldSleep #PediatricSleep #AI #Research #Nanit

Does your baby have a sleep problem? Seven words that can trigger anxiety, guilt, and countless 2 a.m. Google searches. But our latest Nanit Lab study flips the script on what was the biggest predictor of a parent perceiving a sleep problem… 🛌 It wasn’t how long the baby slept. 👶🏽 It wasn’t how many times they woke. 👀 It was how often parents visited the crib. Why this matters: it shifts the focus from the baby’s sleep behavior to the parent’s experience. Sleep problems can as much about caregiver exhaustion, expectations, and support as they are about infant sleep patterns. Nanit data shows it too - two babies can have identical sleep patterns, yet their parents’ nights feel completely different. And both stories matter. 👉 Big question: If perception shapes whether sleep feels like a problem, how should we rethink infant sleep support for families, clinicians, and even tech? 💬 Natalie Barnett, PhD says: “There is still so much to learn about the relationships between infant sleep and parental sleep and behavior. I'm so proud of the fact that some of the best sleep researchers in the world are working with Nanit Lab to better understand these relationships. At Nanit, we want to do what we can to empower new parents to understand their baby's sleep patterns and needs so that they can parent confidently.”

Sleep Researcher / Clinical Psychologist (Sleep Disorders) | My opinions are my own ... backed by data, theory and evidence.

"Does your baby have a sleep problem?" ... I never thought these 7 words would spark so much controversy. ______ But before we do that, let's look at the Science. I recall the wonderful Dr Jodi Mindell on a stage in Manchester with a Powerpoint slide towering above her - a slide which showed how those 7 words produce different results depending on which country the parents resided. ______ Let's look inside the Clinic. There was a line in Richard Ferber's book, which I'll loosely paraphrase - if a dad or health professional says the baby does not have a sleep problem, but the mother does, then that baby has a sleep problem. This concept helped me as a clinician. I've seen many situations where husbands needed to listen a bit more, and less people needed to infer that the fragmented sleep of a mum is a 'right of passage'. If most people agree sleep is important, then shouldn't we also help mums sleep better? _____ Let's look at what defines a 'Sleep Problem'. Decades ago I assumed the key elements defining an infant sleep problem would be how long it takes for the baby to fall asleep, and/or how many times they wake during the night. It helps to apply scientific methods to uncover the #1 factor explaining why parents believe their baby has a sleep problem. And we wouldn't have known this if it wasn't for a combination of objective measurements, AI, and big data. _____ For any scientific enquiries, please feel free to contact the driving force of this 'open access' study, the wonderful Dr Michal Kahn. For any enquiries about the Nanit cameras and/or the research produced by them, please reach out to the wonderful Dr Natalie Barnett, PhD. For any accumulated vitriol that requires a target to spit it out at, please aim it at Dr Michael Gradisar. #sleep #parenting #technology #research #ai #health #education #spititout #slipknot

New NanitLab study shows bedtime consistency = better sleep💤 We know getting the little ones to bed isn’t always easy, but our study of over 800 babies & toddlers found: ✨Irregular bedtimes = less total sleep ✨More bedtime struggles ✨More middle-of-the-night wake-ups Why it matters: Even from infancy, consistent bedtimes help align the body’s circadian clock, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep. Better rest supports emotional regulation, learning & healthy development for both you and the littles💙 💡Tip: Aim to keep bedtime within a 30-minute window each night and pair it with a calming routine🌙 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gHwn-Uc5

As part of our mission to advance pediatric sleep and health research, Nanit Lab is proud to partner with NYU Langone Health on a new study exploring the relationship between sleep patterns and febrile seizures in children. We’re inviting eligible families to participate. To qualify, you must: - Have a child between 6 months and 5 years old - Your child has experienced a febrile seizure This study is fully remote and participation involves sharing relevant data and completing a brief survey. By contributing, families can help deepen our understanding of childhood health—and potentially shape future standards of care. If this sounds like you or someone you know, enroll here: https://lnkd.in/efViJ4JG Questions about eligibility or the study? Please reach out to: Laura.gould@nyulangone.org
