Giving back is at the heart of Job Corps. 💙 Students from the Paul Simon Chicago Job Corps Carpentry program recently put their hands-on skills to work during the annual Community Service Project at Misericordia Heart of Mercy in Chicago. From blueprint to build, they crafted shelving from scratch—turning classroom lessons into meaningful action to support Misericordia’s mission of caring for individuals with developmental and physical challenges. This year marks 25 years of partnership between Paul Simon Chicago Job Corps and Misericordia—a tradition of service, skill-building, and community impact. 👏 We are so proud of our students for carrying on this legacy and showing how #JobCorpsWorks to empower people and strengthen communities. #CommunityService #BuildingFutures #SkilledTrades #NJCA #JobCorps60 #JobCorps #PaulSimonChicagoJobCorps #EmpoweringPotential #CommunityImpact Senator Tammy Duckworth Dick Durbin for U.S. Senate

Uniting the Job Corps community
About us
The mission of the National Job Corps Association is to unite the Job Corps community through activities and services that strengthen the program for the benefit of students, staff and employers. The National Job Corps Association, Inc. (NJCA) is a 501 (c) (6) professional trade association comprised of business, labor, volunteer, advocacy, academic and community organizations. NJCA was founded in 1998 by 38 charter member organizations consisting largely of the for-profit and non-profit contractors that operated the then 118 Job Corps centers around the nation. Since 1998, the membership of the NJCA has more than doubled. Growing to include employers and community partners. By uniting these stakeholders, the NJCA has strengthened the Job Corps through government relations, grassroots education and outreach, informing national policy, and outreach campaigns that increase the visibility of Job Corps. Job Corps is the nation’s largest residential career training program and has been operating for almost 60 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps has trained and educated more than 3 million individuals since 1964. Learn more at www.JobCorps.gov. We love hearing these stories. It proves that #JobCorpsWorks Congratulations, Derrick!
#jobcorpssaveslives like those of Hotel & Lodging graduate Derrick Drawhorn, who was hired by Coca-Cola Consolidated in North Carolina. Derrick will also be attending South Carolina State University in the spring. Derrick has been living in Washington D.C. with his grandmother after having left South Carolina for a better environment. He completed the Hotel & Lodging trade and his high school diploma at the Woodland Job Corps Center and was more than happy to share his story! "School wasn't for me, it was too slow. I was not focused. I needed to leave the environment before I became another statistic. I was working at Zaxby's, playing video games and hanging out with my friends. I was getting in a lot of trouble. I was fighting and wasting my life. I was causing my mom a lot of headaches. I was mad at my dad. We didn't see eye to eye. I was lost. My aunt that lives in Washington D.C. went to Potomac Job Corps Center. She told me about it. Growing up, I lived in Myrtle Beach and I loved going to hotels. Plus, I have the personality for it. I love talking to people from different places. [My Instructor] telling me I can do it, motivating me every step of the way helped me complete my goals. She also told me there is a reason I'm here. I learned if I can push myself, I can do it. Nothing can stop me. If you want to grow up, come to Job Corps." Stories like his would not be possible without Job Corps. Academics at Milwaukee Job Corps Center! A cornerstone of the enduring success that students can achieve through Job Corps is the academics department. Students who come into the Job Corps program without a High School Diploma (or equivalent) or a Driver’s license will spend time in the academics department. The academics department includes TABE (test for adult basic education), Math and Reading, Drivers Education, and High School Diploma programs. For students without a high school diploma or equivalent who demonstrate deficiency in the TABE math and/or reading curriculum, they are enrolled in math and reading classes according to their needs. For students pursuing a high school diploma at Milwaukee Job Corps Center, two programs are offered. The first being the Penn Foster program, which typically serves the adult and out of state students, and the second program serving the minor students, which is a partnership with a local charter school – Seeds of Health Tenor High School. Both programs are accredited through state and national accreditation bodies. For students pursuing a driver’s license, the driver education instructor assists students in every aspect of obtaining one. The academics department consists of 10 full time staff, and 2 substitute instructors. Academic manager Hannah Burby says “the academics department is crucial for students’ long term success. When a student achieves their high school diploma, more doors are open to them. When a student obtains their driver’s license, it opens the door for greater employment opportunities. The academic training, paired with the career technical training that students also receive, shapes youth into well rounded individuals who are ready to launch into their future focus.” #JobCorpsWorks #SaveJobCorps #WeGrowPeople National Job Corps Association (NJCA)

🌟 Edison Job Corps Honors Solar Landscape as Workforce Development Champion 🌟 In recognition of Workforce Development Month, Edison Job Corps proudly presented Solar Landscape with its Workforce Development Champion Award at the recent Community Relations Council meeting. Kevin Dunshee, Chief Commercial Officer, accepted the award on behalf of Solar Landscape. This honor highlights Solar Landscape’s leadership in advancing equitable clean-energy careers, apprenticeships, and hands-on training across New Jersey. Why Solar Landscape is Being Recognized Catalyst for New Jersey’s Community Solar Program: Active leader since the state’s pilot program in 2019, now expanded into the permanent Community Solar Energy Program (CSEP), creating access and career pathways for low- and moderate-income residents. Innovation & Impact Hands-on Training → Jobs: Programs lead directly to employment through Solar Landscape’s hiring network; the U.S. Department of Energy has cited the company for equitable workforce development. At Denison Job Corps, the power of education and opportunity is changing lives — one generation at a time. Recently, Mu graduated from the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) program, taking an exciting step forward in her healthcare career. But what made this milestone even more meaningful was sharing it with her aunt, Wah — a 2019 Denison Job Corps alum and thriving Phlebotomy Tech at UnityPoint Health in Iowa. Both Mu and Wah were taught by the same instructor, Ms. Swan, creating a legacy of mentorship, perseverance, and hope. ✨ This is what Job Corps is all about: not just transforming individual lives, but empowering families and strengthening communities for generations to come. 👏 Congratulations, Mu! Your journey is just beginning, and we are proud to be part of your story. 📚 Ready to change your future — and maybe inspire the next generation?
