🚀 Meet the Matic Robots Team! 🚀 Matic wouldn’t be what it is without the people behind it, and we’re excited to highlight the folks making it all happen. Roshan Mehta first joined Matic in May 2023 as a summer intern and returned in May 2024 full time. Drawn to Matic for the breadth of problems to solve, he quickly discovered that at Matic the work spans every corner of computer science: machine learning, networking, perception, and more. 🔹 “As we grow our customer base, it will be motivating to tackle the fresh challenges that surface and engineer solutions at scale.” His journey at Matic began with building a visualization tool that lets developers see exactly what the robot perceives in real time. That tool quickly became part of the team’s daily workflow and remains one of his proudest contributions. Since then, he has worked on end-to-end testing, advanced the camera pipeline, and most recently, focused on developing new cleaning behaviors. Looking ahead, Roshan is eager to continue growing with Matic as it reaches more homes, taking on new challenges and helping ship smarter, more capable robots with every update. 🚀 Meet the Matic Robots Team! 🚀 Matic wouldn’t be what it is without the people behind it, and we’re excited to highlight the folks making it all happen. Nidhish Kamath is a research engineer on the neural network infrastructure team. He joined Matic in September 2024, drawn by the company philosophy that resonated deeply: “make useful products first, cool second.” The focus on building thoughtful products- using technology as the enabler-instantly resonated with him. One of his first projects was programmatically generating training data for neural networks, tackling some of the toughest perception cases from toekicks, dining table legs, and other thin objects commonly found in homes. He also improved Matic’s internal annotation tools, ensuring the team could better leverage real-world recordings.More recently, his focus has shifted to evaluation and regression testing. He helped improve Mandrill, Matic’s perception regression testing framework, cutting evaluation times by more than half. 🔹 “Making evaluation fast means we can experiment more in limited time and still ship with confidence. It directly supports one of our core philosophies: iterate quickly with software.” Looking ahead, he’s most excited about seeing Matic become a household name, cherished by customers for the incredible value it brings to their lives. With new features constantly in development and shipping, he looks forward to the day when there’s a Matic in every home. Rahul Umapathy joined Matic’s production team as an Intern in October 2024, drawn to the challenge of building robots that see the world through cameras and navigate homes with intelligence. The combination of tangible hardware and elegant software was a perfect fit for his interest in building products people use daily. 🔹 "It’s motivating to know that the robots I’ve helped build are now in customers’ homes. Every positive review feels personal, because of the care and effort our team puts into each one. I still remember shipping the first 100 bots, and now we’re over 2,000. Being part of that journey has been incredibly rewarding" He’s been hands-on across production from assembling robots, building subcomponents, and running quality checks to ensure every Matic performs as designed. He’s produced and tested thousands of side brushes, a key part of Matic’s edge-cleaning system, and outgoing QC, the final step before a robot ships to a customer’s home. Looking ahead, Rahul is excited about Matic’s growth and committed to ensuring that every robot leaving production delivers a flawless customer experience.
