Stories like Justin Tucker's remind us why legal aid matters. After turning his life around from a troubled past, Tucker is now an attorney with Legal Aid of North Carolina helping people facing eviction who might otherwise have nowhere to turn. “When you’re doing what you’re supposed to be doing and God is watching over you, there is nothing that is going to stop it from happening," he said. LSC grantees make stories like this possible every day. They provide second chances, protect rights and open doors to stability and justice for people in crisis. Watch Tucker’s inspiring story — recently featured on WSOC-TV Eyewitness News. #AccessToJustice #LegalAid #ProBono #SecondChances Justin Tucker, Esq.

Every Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we pause to acknowledge the resilience of survivors — and to recommit to supporting them. Legal aid plays a crucial, life-changing role in that support system. LSC grantees help survivors obtain protective orders, secure custody and build safer, more stable futures. Research shows that access to legal aid not only protects survivors but also reduces the prevalence of domestic violence overall. This month, let’s recommit to expanding access to justice — because safety and dignity should never depend on income. #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth #DVAM2025 #EndDV #SupportSurvivors

This summer, communities across the south marked the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina — a disaster that reshaped not only the Gulf Coast, but also the role of legal aid in crisis response. Hurricane Katrina was the first major disaster in U.S. history where LSC grantees were on the front lines as second responders. Since then, civil legal aid has become an essential part of disaster recovery and preparedness across the country. To honor this milestone, LSC President Ron Flagg traveled to New Orleans to join grantee Southeast Louisiana Legal Services and other partners in reflecting on the progress made and the work that remains. ➡️ Learn more about disaster legal services: https://lnkd.in/gaextRBT #HurricaneKatrina #Katrina20 #DisasterRecovery #Resilience #CommunityRecovery #DisasterRelief
