About us

The Lone Star Flight Museum's (LSFM) mission is to celebrate flight and achievement in Texas aviation history; and educate and engage our youth through Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Lead by Anna Hawley, LSFM opened its $38 million state-of-the-art museum on Labor Day weekend 2017 at Ellington Field in Houston, TX. Founded in 1985, the 130,000 square foot museum includes the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame, historic aircraft and period artifacts, and a $1 million Aviation Learning Center featuring simulator-based STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) curriculum, that provides a hands-on, interactive learning environment to inspire and educate students. LSFM’s vision is to be a world-class educational museum linking an understanding of the past with inspiration for the future.

Today, we're excited to spotlight one of our trailblazing panelists: Sarah “Sassie” Duggleby, CEO and co-founder of Venus Aerospace, a company redefining the future of high-speed travel and propulsion technology across defense, space, and commercial aviation. As Sassie puts it: “We’re not just developing a new engine, we’re reshaping the future of travel. In the not-so-distant future, our technology will help people travel across the globe in under two hours.” At the core of Venus Aerospace’s success is a commitment to innovation and inclusion, proving that women are not just participants in aerospace innovation, but leaders driving it forward. Excited to share that I will be a panelist at the Lone Star Flight Museum’s Girls in Aviation Day on Saturday, September 20th ✈️ To the little girl who dreamed of being a ballerina and had the joy of dancing on many different stages, life has a way of surprising you. My path led me from dance to data, from Panama to the U.S., and eventually into a career in business aviation. Along the way, I learned that dreams can evolve, and that passion, discipline, and resilience carry you from one stage to another, whether that stage has bright lights or airplanes in the background. Thank you to my mentors, to Million Air for providing growth opportunities, and to the fantastic team at the Lone Star Flight Museum for this opportunity. I look forward to inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals and sharing what is possible when you follow your passions. If you are in Houston, I would love for you to join us for a day of inspiration and connection.
