The Greater Malden Asian American Community Coalition honored Goodwin with its Humanitarian Award, recognizing the firm's advocacy for victims of Anti-Asian hate. For over two years, Goodwin lawyers worked closely with The Alliance for Asian American Justice, the Greater Malden Asian American Community Coalition, and community partners to represent the interests of victims and their families affected by hate crimes. 🚇 Even a week of tube strikes couldn’t take away from a fantastic few days at LSI Europe capped off by a panel co-hosted by HSBC Innovation Banking and Goodwin. It was a privilege to share the stage with investors John Cassidy (SoftBank Investment Advisers), Esther Reynal de St Michel Richardot (THENA Capital) and Philip Buergin (LetterOne); Jay Carter from Google DeepMind spinout Isomorphic Labs and Arvin Abraham from Goodwin. Some key takeaways from our discussion: 🤖 AI adoption may be slow, but it’s becoming a fundamental tool. We’re not just generating and capturing more data; we’re now able to use it in ways that matter, with AI unlocking the potential to tackle previously undruggable targets, improve efficiencies, measure real-world impact, and move closer to personalised care. 💸 The goalposts in fundraising have shifted. Incremental success is no longer enough to secure the next round and investors expect companies to demonstrate meaningful value and clear proof points. Long-term partners who can weather volatility are more important than ever, and mega-rounds continue to be attractive as asides from reducing future financing risk, give companies the runway to build lasting value. 🌍 The US may dominate as the largest single market with one regulatory body, but expansion isn’t one-size-fits-all. For earlier-stage companies, the right geography depends on the team, the product, and the pathway to scale. Europe and the UK in particular offer not only strong research, innovation and talent, but also a unique healthcare market shaped by nationalised systems, creating tremendous opportunities for those who navigate it well.
