Enjoy this devotion written by one of our ABCS staff members: “’...the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.’ From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” - Matthew 4:16-17 The comfort of these verses – Jesus IS the Messiah, the Christ. Our faith in Him is well placed and historically accurate. It isn’t a leap of faith, it is a step on solid historical evidence.  And we are citizens of the Kingdom of heaven. We are no longer slaves to the kingdom of the enemy. When we get bogged down by sin or the temptations of this world, we need only remember those things are from who we used to be as slaves. We are no longer slaves, we are free. Free citizens of the Kingdom of heaven in Christ.          The challenge of these verses – we must live like citizens of the Kingdom of heaven. We have old habits and old ways of thinking that need to be changed – repented. FROM our old ways TO the kingdom of heaven ways. That is what repentance is. And the Kingdom of heaven has come near is the why.
