#jobcorpssaveslives like those of Hotel & Lodging graduate Derrick Drawhorn, who was hired by Coca-Cola Consolidated in North Carolina. Derrick will also be attending South Carolina State University in the spring. Derrick has been living in Washington D.C. with his grandmother after having left South Carolina for a better environment. He completed the Hotel & Lodging trade and his high school diploma at the Woodland Job Corps Center and was more than happy to share his story! "School wasn't for me, it was too slow. I was not focused. I needed to leave the environment before I became another statistic. I was working at Zaxby's, playing video games and hanging out with my friends. I was getting in a lot of trouble. I was fighting and wasting my life. I was causing my mom a lot of headaches. I was mad at my dad. We didn't see eye to eye. I was lost. My aunt that lives in Washington D.C. went to Potomac Job Corps Center. She told me about it. Growing up, I lived in Myrtle Beach and I loved going to hotels. Plus, I have the personality for it. I love talking to people from different places. [My Instructor] telling me I can do it, motivating me every step of the way helped me complete my goals. She also told me there is a reason I'm here. I learned if I can push myself, I can do it. Nothing can stop me. If you want to grow up, come to Job Corps." Stories like his would not be possible without Job Corps. The New Hampshire Job Corps Center brought together the Manhattan Strategy Group (MSG), National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS), SCA Workforce Hub, Apprenticeship NH for a Registered Apprenticeship Lunch and Learn. The event served as a chance to explore the potential of the Center becoming a Registered Apprenticeship site. Attendees received valuable information on Registered Apprenticeship and the state's support system for apprentices and employers. NIMS Executive Director Montez King emphasized the importance of industry-recognized credentials and training that aligns with current workforce needs. Students Amelia Williams and Isaac Libis shared their individual journeys and career goals with the guests. This event marks a significant step toward strengthening employer partnerships and expanding career-focused training across New Hampshire. Thank you to ApprenticeshipNH's Alexus Kalampalikis, M.Ed and Supply Chain Automation's James E. Price for also speaking at the event. #jobcorpsworks for Advanced Manufacturing graduate Raymond Millott, who earns $23 an hour at Wyman Gordon. The company designs and makes forged metal components for the aerospace industry and energy markets. Raymond enrolled at the Grafton Job Corps Center in Spring 2024 and entered the Advanced Manufacturing trade, which is offered through the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce Education Hub. His strong math skills and talent not only led to him earning the highest grade in his class but also contributed to becoming a CNC Mill Operator. The position requires an understanding of specifications and maintenance to ensure that the machine runs safely during the manufacturing process. Raymond conducted Work-Based Learning at Algonquin Industries Inc. / Hi-tech Metals Inc. in Bellingham, MA. He gained extensive operational experience with CNC Lathe and Milling Centers. Among the equipment that he worked with was the Haas Milling Center. He loaded the milling center with the current production requested parts and evaluated technical drawings and blueprints to enforce quality control. During his interview with Wyman-Gordan, Raymond said he was impressed with the size of the facility he toured, including the precision of the tools the employees used. Raymond attributes his success to Job Corps and his Advanced Manufacturing Instructor Talya Stebbins. Stories like his would not be possible without Job Corps. 🎓🍁 Glenmont Job Corps Fall 2025 Graduation – A Celebration of Resilience & Hope 🍁🎓 This past Friday, we had the honor of celebrating our Fall 2025 Graduation here at Glenmont Job Corps — and what an incredible day it was! 💙 Each graduate walked across that stage not just with a certificate, but with a story of perseverance, late nights, early mornings, and the determination to create a brighter future. 🌟 We were especially honored to welcome Deshanna C. Wiggins, Chief Executive Officer of the Albany Black Chamber of Commerce & Social Club, as our guest speaker. 🙌 Her words reminded our students — and all of us — of the power of hard work, community, and the critical importance of keeping programs like Job Corps open and thriving. She charged our graduates to step boldly into their futures and reminded us why our mission matters now more than ever. 🗝️✨ 💡 This graduation was more than a milestone — it was a statement. It showed that when young people are given access to education, training, and opportunity, they can rise above every obstacle. Our graduates are proof that Job Corps works — and why we must continue to fight to protect and expand this life-changing program. 💪📚 A very special shoutout to Antoinette H. 📸 — our honorary guest photographer — for capturing every smile, tear, and moment of pride. Your photos will inspire our community for years to come! 👏 To our graduates: we are SO proud of you. To our staff, community partners, and supporters: thank you for believing in this mission and standing with us. Together, we are building futures — and we are just getting started. 🚀💙 #JobCorps #GlenmontJobCorps #Graduation #ClassOf2025 #WorkforceDevelopment #EducationMatters #SaveJobCorps #Community #FutureLeaders #AlbanyNY
