Acadia’s experts, Stephanie Eken, MD, MBA and Andrew Lynch, PhD alongside our partner Imad Melhem, MD, MMM, CPE at Geisinger, provided insights last week on the on the Medicare 190-day lifetime limit for inpatient psychiatric treatment and why it should be repealed in Health Affairs. We want Acadia to be synonymous with excellent care, phenomenal customer service and an unparalleled commitment to our patients, staff, physicians, and community. As a leading provider of behavioral healthcare services in the United States and Puerto Rico, Acadia Healthcare operates 253 treatment facilities across 39 states. Our network of treatment facilities offers multiple levels of care for various behavioral health and substance use disorders. At Acadia, our primary goal is to meet patients where they’re at in their treatment process. We do this by providing a multitude of levels of care, including detoxification, residential treatment for addiction, residential treatment for dual diagnosis, acute psychiatric inpatient hospitalization, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services, and an array of outpatient programming options, ranging from partial hospitalization programs (PHPs) and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) to traditional outpatient services. Our network of treatment facilities creates greater access to care, reduces the stigma associated with mental illness and addiction, and offers those in our communities a safe environment in which to receive the treatment they need.

To the many veterans and active-duty military families in our communities, thank you for your service. After giving so much for others, the unfortunate truth is that veterans face many barriers to adequate, quality healthcare, particularly when it comes to behavioral health. Addressing a person’s whole health needs – including medical and psychiatric – is crucial to long-term recovery. At Acadia, we are committed to offering the highest-quality care possible to those who’ve served. A patient at our Claymont Comprehensive Treatment Center in Claymont, Delaware, shared his remarkable journey, and the role the Claymont team played in transforming his story for the better. He related that he had been treated for drug addiction since he was a child, and addicted to heroin for 26 years. In 2000, he says, “I fell hard, [and spent] six months of rehab in Florida. Since 2000, I had a few years clean, but never got it—I learned how to get clean, but not stay clean.” His experience at Claymont, however, has been a catalyst for his recovery. “The counselors allowed me time to talk every day…I heard this time that if I want to stay clean, I have to change everything.” #Healthcare #AddictionTreatment #HolisticCare #Recovery #PatientTestimonial https://lnkd.in/ebiwFs4v

At Acadia, we’ve witnessed the value and effectiveness of measurement-based care firsthand, both for mental health and substance use disorders, which utilizes standardized assessments as a way to track an individual’s progress throughout their recovery journey. Recently, we spoke with Jennifer Park, Director of Outpatient Services, and Ryan Plourde, MBA, MSW, LCSW, Director of Clinical Services at West Pines Behavioral Hospital in Colorado. Learn more about how they’re using data to create more comprehensive care programs, and the positive impact they’ve seen as a result, by reading our blog here: https://lnkd.in/ef_a4FYy #BehavioralHealth #MentalHealth #MeasurementBasedCare #HolisticCare
