Just back from Tokyo, our CEO & Co-Founder Shiv Bhakta ☀️ returned with a fresh perspective, meaningful new connections, and a deeper appreciation for Japan’s leadership in climate and advanced materials innovation. Active Surfaces was honored to participate in Plug and Play Japan's 2025 Batch, joining a globally selected cohort of startups exploring collaboration with leading Japanese corporations and investors. The program offered a valuable platform to share our vision for ultra-thin, flexible solar technology and engage in thoughtful dialogue around the future of integrating solar into the built environment. Highlights included: • Presenting our work at Plug and Play Japan’s startup showcase • Participating in a CEO Roundtable on building enduring teams in deep tech • Meeting with forward-looking partners across the energy, mobility, and built environment sectors Outside the formal program, Active Surfaces connected with a range of organizations at the forefront of Japan’s decarbonization efforts—from distributed generation and advanced manufacturing to grid-edge innovation. The week reinforced the critical importance of global partnerships in accelerating climate solutions—and the growing demand for lightweight, modular solar that integrates seamlessly into complex environments.
