Today marks 24 years since the tragic events of September 11, 2001 — a day that forever changed our nation and holds deep meaning for ABM. We pause to remember the 17 ABM team members we lost that day and honor their legacy through our ongoing care of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. ABM is proud to care for the entire memorial and museum — spanning cleaning, engineering, and maintenance. One of the most poignant aspects of this work is maintaining and protecting the bronze parapets surrounding the memorial’s reflecting pools, engraved with the names of 2,983 victims and first responders from both the 1993 bombing and the September 11 attacks. Each weeknight, ABM janitorial and engineering professionals carry out a detailed process of cleaning, sanding, patina application, torching, buffing, sealing, and coating — ensuring this sacred space remains a place of dignity and remembrance. We are especially grateful to ABM team members Rudys Gomez, Richie Gonzales, Paul Sheehan, and Yackson Mercedes, who lead this important work alongside their colleagues across the museum and memorial. As we mark this solemn anniversary, we remain proudly committed to caring for this hallowed ground.
