About us

The American Headache Society (AHS) is a professional society of health care providers dedicated to the study and treatment of headache and face pain. The Society’s objectives are to promote the exchange of information and ideas concerning the causes and treatments of headache and related painful disorders. Educating physicians, health professionals and the public and encouraging scientific research are the primary functions of this organization. AHS activities include an annual scientific meeting, a comprehensive headache symposium, regional symposia for neurologists and family practice physicians, publication of the journal Headache and sponsorship of the American Migraine Foundation.

  • The American Headache Society and the American Heart Association are pleased to announce a co-funded Innovative Project Award supporting high-risk, high-reward research at the intersection of headache disorders and cardiovascular/cerebrovascular health. This award is designed to spark transformative ideas that challenge current paradigms, introduce new approaches, or open new avenues of investigation. Importantly, no preliminary data is required — making it possible for investigators to pursue bold, scientifically sound concepts. The American Headache Society, in partnership with For the Love of Ryan, is offering five Resident Scholarships to attend the 2025 Scottsdale Headache Symposium (Dec 4–7, Westin Kierland Resort, AZ). Each award provides up to $2,000 for registration, hotel, and airfare. Applicants must be residents in a training program and demonstrate a strong interest in headache medicine. They should also have experience working with mental health disorders and reside in the United States or Canada.
