A big Weber State welcome to our new board of trustees members Ally Isom, chief marketing and external affairs officer for Clyde Companies, and Brad Wilson, former Speaker of the Utah House of Representatives! Keith Titus has been elected as the new chair of the board while Lori Belnap Pehrson will serve as the vice chair.

I was recently talking with Christian Wilbeck, an expert in employee listening, and he said something that I've thought about a lot, he said, "People don't really get 'survey fatigue' they get 'lack-of-action fatigue'. How often do organizations share messages like "your voice matters" only to not take any action on the feedback they receive? We aren't perfect, but at Clyde Companies, Inc. we do take action based on the feedback we receive. We recently completed our annual engagement survey and we are now firmly in the top quartile of all companies for employee engagement and are knocking on the door of the top decile. This is a great accomplishment, but not a final destination. When we designed and launched the survey six years ago we intentionally kept it brief (about 20 questions) so that leaders were focused on the most essential things to drive engagement. It became part of how we operate and influences all of our people decisions and it’s s very gratifying to see our progress.

We had a blast at Big Dig Utah last weekend!   From sharing our powerful equipment and latest tech, to featuring Miles, our community sweeper, it was all about fun and giving back.   Big Dig supports pediatric cancer research, helping kids and families in Utah and beyond.
