At Varner Elementary, a surprise dedication left Assistant Superintendent Brenda Carter nearly speechless. Ms. Carter, who began her career as a teacher at Varner, helped bring a new sensory room to the school—a space where students can reset, refocus, and continue learning. She even contributed personal resources to make it possible. When staff gathered to honor her, she was met with flowers, hugs, and the announcement that the room would now carry her name. "I was completely shocked. I have never had a surprise like that—ever," Ms. Carter shared. Congratulations! We are pleased to announce that Caleb Garrett of Compton Elementary School has been named Elementary Level Teacher of the Year. 🎉✏️ "I really pride myself in having a fun-looking classroom," Caleb said with a smile. "I like to have students coming into an environment where they feel excited and happy and ready to learn. My own enthusiasm comes a lot from meeting new people and learning new ideas. That's what keeps me energized. I work in a school with exceptional teachers. I’m very humbled and grateful for this recognition."

For the tenth year in a row, Cobb students have outperformed the state in every subject and grade level—while leading the metro Atlanta region in many areas. These results are the product of committed teachers, hardworking students, and supportive families working together toward a common goal.
