India’s industrial growth eased to 4% in August from 4.3% in July, with manufacturing momentum slowing. Of the six use-based segments, five saw IIP growth slow down, one contracted and one accelerated. Primary goods provided some cheer, growing for the first time in five months, led by mining and electricity. Going forward, rising private consumption supported by a strong monsoon, rate cuts, and tax relief is expected to aid industrial activity. That said, global headwinds and US tariffs could dampen export demand. We expect GDP growth at 6.5% for this fiscal, with downside risks.
