How does VxKex spoof the Windows version?

If VxKex spoofs the Windows version by modifying some registry keys, but my app checks the Windows version by eg. checking the presence of Windows 10-specific directories and files, the version would not be spoofed. So therefore I am interested in how the spoofing is done in VxKex. As far as I can see, my program is using GetVersionEx, GetVersionExA and GetVersionExW in win32. There are many other ways to check the Windows version too
