Description
The problem
I have an issue with a Matter over Thread device - an Aqara W100 controller - seeming to stop reporting state change events after a day or two.
This issue seems almost identical to #124503. The device was originally added to Apple Home and is using a HomePod mini TBR. It was then re-shared and added to Home Assistant.
I have a few automations set up to use the programmable buttons and they just seem to suddenly stop working. On investigation I can see that they are no longer triggering state changes in Home Assistant. When this happens it does still appear to be receiving temperature/humidity updates although I am not 100% certain. Notably, when this happens the device still seems to be connected to the Thread network just fine and Apple Home is continuing to receive updates and button presses.
A soft restart of home assistant doesn’t fix the issue and re-interviewing the device doesn’t always work. Rebooting HAOS does seem to fix it. I haven’t tried just restarting the matter server yet.
This could be unrelated, but I disabled the more complex lighting automation and have just left my middle button fan control automation running. So far it’s kept working for nearly two days. It could be coincidence, I’m not sure how an automation could cause this issue. If the buttons continue to work for the next week I will re-enable the lighting automation and see what happens.
