Added in the Linux kernel in 2022 to prevent malicious (or perhaps buggy :D) VMs form making the VMM freeze forever, might be worth investigating: https://lwn.net/Articles/888532/

It might be helpful for printing out debugging information when the VM hangs. Needs more investigation.
