Dark mode isn’t just a design trend—it’s an essential accessibility feature that significantly improves usability for blind, low vision, neurodivergent, and older users. Through extensive user testing with people who rely on assistive technologies, See Me Please has found dark mode to be the most consistently requested feature, far surpassing others like read-aloud tools. Yet it remains under-prioritised, mayb because WCAG doesn’t mandate it. Plug-ins and colour inversion can create more problems than they solve. Native dark mode, by contrast, reduces glare, prevents fatigue, and enables users to work and engage longer, comfortably and independently.
