Bug: Copying from Desktop to Android Clipboard doesn't work anymore #184
-
|
I thought, I let you know. I noticed this for some time already, probably a couple weeks. Previously, when I copied from my usual Desktop (like URL or text from an article) with CTRL+C (or context menu), the copied text was available in the clipboard of the Genymotion emulator and I could paste it with CTRL+V. Now, when I copy text, it only shows "Copied" in the corner (not the text anymore) but apparently it injects an empty string (no text) into the clipboard. (It only pastes empty text.) However, copying from Genymotion emulator and pasting on Desktop still works correctly! (I am using KDE 6.5.1 with Linux 6.17.5.zen1.) I don't remember having changed any settings (Shared Clipboard is still enabled). The only thing that changed: my distro recently started to enforce the Wayland display manager (replacing X11) which comes with different window focus behaviour, unsure if this is related. Currently, I am using the Genymotion Business Version 3.9.0 | Revision 20250423-a30d027086. |

@krisutofu I've tested on Ubuntu 24.04LTS with Wayland (Gnome), and I do not reproduce the problem: Clipboard copy/paste from Desktop to Genymotion works correctly. Could you detail which distribution you are using? |

@krisutofu sorry, but we do not support Garuda distribution. Supported distributions are:
Other distributions are neither supported nor tested. (see https://support.genymotion.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000219965-Supported-Linux-distributions). Unless we reproduce on one of our supported distribution, there is nothing we can do to help you there. |

Thank you for your information and effort. I still think, Genymobile could improve customer-friendliness by suggesting to go to distribution's maintainers first. Indeed, I am using a software package offered by Garuda specifically. Maybe even is a problem with the package. I am using the same Linux after all as in Fedora Workstation, probably just a different Desktop environment (KDE) and other configuration coming with installed packages. When we can fix the problem, I'll report back. |

Very good news. A competent user in the Garuda forum was completely right, the problem was related to KDE Plasma 4.5.1. With the update to KDE Plasma 4.5.2., the problem is gone. Thanks a lot for your nice emulator. It's like life-saving. |
