Event Overview

Dear Developers and Technology Partners:

Xiaomi Vela is an embedded IoT software platform for consumer IoT, built on the open-source real-time operating system NuttX. It has powered over 100 million smart devices, including smartwatches, fitness trackers, smart speakers, smart home devices, and more.Currently, Xiaomi Vela is open sourced as openvela. As a global leader in open-source AIoT operating systems, openvela is dedicated to collaborative creation, sharing, and open-source symbiosis.

Today, we sincerely invite you to join this technical dialogue expressed in code.

• Every line of code you contribute will become part of the core architecture of the open-source community, powering the underlying logic of smart connectivity.
• Every issue you resolve will remove technical barriers for developers around the world, enhancing system stability and compatibility.
• Every document you contribute will enrich the open-source knowledge graph, accelerating technology accessibility and cross-domain collaboration.

We have also prepared exquisite gifts for those who make significant contributions to the community. The details of the event are as follows:

• Time: Otcober 01, 2025 – December 31, 2025
• Location: Online via GitHub or Gitee
• Content: Two tracks are available—Feature Development and Documentation Contribution (Participants may choose based on their interests).

Feature Development

1. Submission Types
   • You can develop an innovative and practical application or solution based on the openvela system. Submissions may include smart hardware (using a community development board or QEMU emulator), software applications, system tools, or system enhancements.
   • You can also contribute to the openvela community by submitting code (PRs), reporting issues, or writing documentation. Participation awards are based on the number of PRs that are accepted and merged.
2. How to Participate
   • Developers must submit their work to the designated platform within the specified timeframe, including a project description, technical documentation, and a demonstration video. Achievement awards will be granted based on the evaluation criteria.
3. Evaluation Criteria
   • The judging panel will evaluate submissions based on innovation, practicality, technical complexity, user experience to determine the special, first, second, and third prizes.
4. Participation Awards
   • Explorer (2 merged PR): One Xiaomi backpack.
   • Climber (5 merged PRs): Mi Home Insulated Cup Pocket Edition.
   • Pioneer (10 merged PRs): One Xiaomi XiaoAI Speaker.
   • Leader (50 merged PRs): One Redmi Watch 4.
5. Achievement Awards (A certificate of honor provides fast‑track access to Xiaomi recruitment)
   • Third Prize (100 recipients): Mi Home Insulated Cup Pocket Edition.
   • Second Prize (5 recipients): One Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro plus a certificate of honor.
     
   • First Prize (3 recipients): One Redmi Note 14 phone plus a certificate of honor.
     
   • Special Prize (1 recipient): One Xiaomi Pad 7 plus a certificate of honor.
     

Technical Writing

If you have strong writing skills, we encourage you to participate in our community activities by creating a technical article about openvela or raising community‑related questions in an article format. To qualify, submissions must be original and uploaded to the community platform, where they will be reviewed for acceptance. For every accepted article, the author receives Mi Home Insulated Cup Pocket Edition. We sincerely welcome your participation and value your feedback; all suggestions will be carefully evaluated and considered for improvement.
