@majd I find the current list-versions command less useful than the version-history feature in this PR.

Using list-versions returns a long string of external-version-id values, which then requires parsing with the get-version-metadata command. Parsing each entry individually is far too inefficient.

the convenience of both methods is immediately apparent.
