Gradient background fills all the screen including navigation bar (top bar) and messageInputBar (bottom bar). Collection view should be displayed exactly in the area between these top and bottom bar.
Currently top and bottom bars just overlap the collection view which is displayed "as is".

For example, custom insets for messagesCollectionView which are set equal to top and bottom bar.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Currently I'm trying to hack this library to achieve this behaviour.
