Using resend for this seems like a huge drawback instead of using nodemailer. |

I don't know much about these things, but docker-mailserver and stalw.art support can be good. Domain, user, permissions management supports etc. |

This is a great idea, but it's a way harder feature than many realize. If I'm not mistaken, the app currently uses most of Gmail's features to store and render the email. It gets a lot more complicated if you are actually pulling in emails from an IMAP server, storing them and rendering them. You also then have to filter them for malicious code, etc. This will likely come in time, but I would first focus on making really great AI tools and let Gmail do the heavy lifting and later add IMAP. |

Hi everyone,
First, I want to say that Mail0.io is an amazing project! The ability to self-host and integrate external email services while maintaining privacy and control is something many users have been looking for.
Feature Suggestion: SMTP & IMAP Support
To further enhance Mail0.io's capabilities, I’d like to suggest adding support for SMTP (sending emails) and IMAP (retrieving emails). This would make it possible to:
✅ Send emails directly from Mail0.io using a custom SMTP server or third-party providers (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, self-hosted mail servers).
✅ Retrieve emails via IMAP, allowing users to sync their mailboxes across multiple devices while still keeping their data private.
✅ Enable a full-fledged self-hosted email client, making Mail0.io a powerful alternative to existing email apps.
Why This Matters
More Control: Users who want to self-host their own email solution will benefit from built-in SMTP and IMAP support.
Seamless Integration: Users can connect Mail0.io to their existing email providers while keeping everything in a single, unified inbox.
Privacy & Security: Self-hosting SMTP & IMAP would ensure full data ownership without relying on third-party mail services.
