Baidu's Apollo Go Granted Dubai's First Batch of Autonomous Driving Test Licenses, Conducts On-Road Trials in Urban Dubai

We’re proud to announce that Baidu’s Apollo Go has been granted Dubai’s exclusive "001" autonomous driving license by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). With 50 test licenses secured, Apollo Go has been conducting autonomous vehicle testing in urban Dubai since August. This milestone builds on licenses Apollo Go has already secured in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, further validating its track record of safety and reliability. At the 4th Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport, Apollo Go is the sole operator running self-driving trials on open roads, deploying its sixth-generation autonomous vehicles for exclusive trial rides. We’re excited for the next city on the journey toward fully autonomous mobility.

In the Hong Kong SAR government’s 2025 Policy Address, autonomous driving was highlighted as a key driver of smart mobility and innovation. Hong Kong is Apollo Go’s first right-hand-drive market, and since receiving the city’s first pilot license late last year, Apollo Go has expanded testing into three districts, spanning both commercial and residential areas. Building on the experience gained in Hong Kong, Baidu Apollo aims to expand into other regions—particularly right-hand-drive overseas markets, noted Yunpeng Wang, Corporate Vice President of Baidu and President of Baidu’s Intelligent Driving Group.
