  • Developers are always looking for smarter, faster ways to adapt models for specific scenarios 🏃 With Microsoft Learning Zone running on Copilot+ PCs, we demonstrated how LoRA (low-rank-adaptation) can make that possible. We partnered with Kahoot! to enable the creation of engaging classroom games powered entirely by Phi Silica, our inbox Small Language Model (SLM) that runs locally on Copilot+ PCs. Instead of training and distributing a custom fine-tuned model for each generation task, we leveraged LoRA adapters to specialize a single, base Phi Silica model to diverse task needs with minimal overhead. The result: - 75% reduction in rejection rates - 4.6X uplift in subjective quality scores This example shows how LoRA adapters help developers deliver high-quality, task-specific AI experiences without the overhead of training and distributing new models. 👉 Dive deeper: https://msft.it/6041sWzVU

  • We’re excited to announce the release of Windows App SDK 1.8.0, the latest stable version of the Windows App SDK. The stable channel provides releases of the Windows App SDK that are supported for use by apps in production environments. Apps that use the stable release of the Windows App SDK can also be published to the Microsoft Store. Important updates for developers include: • Windows AI APIs: a suite of AI APIs that can be used with a local language model to perform a variety of tasks on Copilot+ PCs. Your apps can now intelligently respond to prompts, recognize text within images, describe the content of images, remove objects from images, and more. • Decimal data type: adds support for a high-precision numeric data type for accurate calculations • NuGet metapackage: each component contributing to the Windows App SDK is now a component NuGet package and is listed as a dependency by the metapackage. This allows developers to choose either the metapackage or select specific component packages for their applications. • And more! 🗒️ Explore the full release notes and get started with Windows App SDK 1.8.0 today: https://msft.it/6042sm9Q0
